-Read Amistad
-Order The Stout-Hearted Seven if you haven’t already
-Have a FUN spring break and be ready to experience THE GOLD RUSH when we return to class! 😉Extra credit options:
-Make a trail plant guide. Pretend you need to create a booklet to teach others about local plant life and it’s potential benefits or dangers. Include hand drawings of plants in your own backyard or a nearby park. Research what they are and provide facts about the plants including their uses, if any. Please state whether any part of the plants are edible and identify any common imitators (you wouldn’t want someone to mistake them for their dangerous look-a-like!). Aim to have 5 plants in your booklet. Ask a parent to help you and DO NOT eat any of your finds. As we know, though there are some guidelines to determine whether or not a plant is edible, but there are many factors and NO risk should be taken. Credit will only be given to hand drawings and independent research- printing out images and info directly from a website does not count!
– Watch PBS, American Experience, The Gold Rush. Write a brief synopsis of what you learned.
