Homework due 2/9/2015

1. Write conclusion to the report they have been writing. Then ENTIRE report is due next week. This should include their INTRO, 2 or 3 BODY PARAGRAPHS, and CONCLUSION all together in one paper. I am seeing some very good work coming in. Be sure to have them proofread their work.

2. Freewrite: On a piece of paper they should have drawn a heart with the words, “Love is…” at the top of the heart. They are supposed to use their imagination to tell what they think love is.

MORE TO NOTE: We will move back to creative writing next week. The kids are excited about this. (I am too!) The goal is to take what they have learned all year to create longer works. They will have completed an entire report by next week, so writing a longer short story will be no sweat now! Next week we will be doing Valentine’s Day theme creative writing. It should be a lot of fun.

We worked on prepositional clauses today and restructuring sentences to create variety. We will need to work more on that. I’m going to have to backtrack a bit to cover some more sentence grammar basics, but they started to catch on. I am covering many of the things in those grammar books you bought. Feel free to use those as reinforcement. I did not pick those books, but they seem pretty good.

We also addressed when to write out a number and when to just use the numeral.
