-Finish lesson 36
-Do ‘Amistad’ assignment (see below for details)
-Finish reading ‘The Stout-Hearted Seven’ & do lesson 33 (Due 4/8)Amistad assignment (Choose ONE):
-Pick a ‘character’ from the book and write a summary of the story from their point of view. You can choose any of the Africans, slave traders, lawyers, abolitionists, or politicians. This should show both perspective and historical detail. In other words, though it should have some emotional content it has to be an accurate telling and include details, not solely feelings. Imagine you are writing it for court testimony not a private diary.-Some good can come out of even the darkest trials. Several life changing institutions can be connected to the tragedy of the ‘Amistad’. Many people’s lives have been (and will be) forever impacted by them. Choose EITHER: Fisk University or the American Missionary Association, and write a report on their history and impact.
OPTIONAL (extra credit, choose one):
-Write about a group of people currently being persecuted. Tell of any grassroots (or perhaps social media) effort to help them. Where there is persecution, a voice can be found fighting for those afflicted. Explain who is helping them. Who is playing the role of abolitionist for the persecuted? There are MANY being persecuted for various reasons the world over at this very moment. I don’t want to hear ”I was going to do this prompt but couldn’t find anything”!-Pick any missions organization still in operation today and explain how it got it’s start. This can be done through internet research or by personally interviewing someone in the mission field!
